“ Tucked away in Stowe, a short drive from our airbnb, Michael's on the hill is a true culinary gem that offers an exceptional dining experience. The menu is a perfect balance of creativity and tradition, featuring fresh, high-quality ingredients that shine in every dish. We started the meal with the cornmeal calamari, beef tartare and leaf gem salad. Excellent! For entrees we got papadelle, pork chop and chicken. The Pappardelle was another level! Beyond the food, the service was great. My one knock- the cocktails were not frosty cold. I added ice to it but improvement could happen here. Michaels on the hill is the kind of place you'll want to return to again and again. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a fantastic meal, this restaurant exceeds expectations in every way. Highly recommended! ”

“ I just want to give a shout out to the wait staff and Jason the wonderful manager at Michaels On The Hill. We have been there many times over the years, the food always stands out and the atmosphere is warm, cozy and sophisticated. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and the power went out minutes before we arrived. When we got there they were forced to close due to now electricity. One of their staff members met us in parking lot to explain, then after hearing about our situation, brought Jason the manager to greet us who put us down for same time following night and said, "I will make this up to you". Well, many times, this gets lost in translation, but not with Jason, he put us at the BEST table with a magnificant view of Camels Hump, with his best sought-after waiter, and then at end of meal, provided us with another surprise that was unexpected. In short, first-class, must go and enjoy! ”

The place was quiet when we arrived and they had us wait for a while we have no idea why? The place was not packed at all. The welcoming, attentiveness and positive experience could and should be better. ”

As I was not completely knowledgeable of the wines on the list, I asked for his recommendation. Michael knew his wines! We orders a cheese platter which is enough for two person. Then we had the fish or the catch of the day. It was prepared extremely well. As day was my company's birthday, we share a cheesecake. ”

I was a little disappointed by the overall feel and look of the place, having expected something more along the line of how they describe themselves as a 'modern European' restaurant. It was very much a 'Vermont traditional' look and feel, which is not a bad thing, just not what I expected based on their website. The food was very good. Service was good, pleasant and helpful, if slightly slow to check on our table. I had a braised lamb shank with vegetables and she had spring vegetable gnocchi. Both dishes were very good, although they were aggressively salty. We finished with a shared desert and coffees. The restaurant has a beautiful location with great sunset views over the mountains. Very charming. One thing I would suggest to the owners is the music choice for the dining room is very incongruous to the whole presentation and atmosphere. 1970s pop/rock hits isn't really the vibe that matches this environment. ”

“ Michale's On The Hill nestled in the Hill side in a quaint 1820 farmhouse in Waterbury Center, Vermont. The Service is amazing and very polite and have a great knowledge of the dishes. The food is very Flavorful and amazing. Everything was served with Beautiful presentation and at the proper Temp for peak freshness. Hat of to the chefs and the Bartenders. ”

“ Elizabeth, the sommelier was amazing. The wine was amazing - Kistler Pinot was delicious. We ordered the following: Shaved Vegetable Salad - English Pea Purée - Mint - Feta - Pistachios - amazing and highly recommend. I devoured the entire dish :) Kids chicken tenders and fries - delicious (I love that this restaurant has a kids menu - thank you) Carrot soup - great! Maine Lobster - amazing. Tons of lobster meat Salmon - the salmon skin was perfectly fried. Cheese platter - delicious The waitress was very nice and overall it was a great experience. Elizabeth, thank you for welcoming us to the restaurant and recommending the amazing California wine - Kistler. We highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Stowe.
